Aflas® is a chemically resistant elastomer that unlike Viton does well in steam applications. This has proven to be a problem solver for co-generation, oil feild and chemical applications. Aflas® is resistant to oils and sour gas, making a new favorite elastomer among the oil patch.

It is resistant to many chemicals Viton® is not, which makes it a great alternative for some customers that have been using Kalrez at great expense.

Chemical resistance: Aflas® does well against Strong Acids and Bases. Consult American Seal & Packing for your specific application.

The typical operating temperatures for Aflas is good to 500 F in Steam service (260 C). In other media the range is 41 F to 392 F (200 C).Aflas® does not do well in cold applications. Tight tolerances should be used in metal housings where possible to prevent extrusion.
